This is a Beautiful, Hand Colored Engraving by brothers Hippolyte and Polydor Pauquet; Paris, France, in a gorgeous Eastlake frame, purchased at estate sale.
The Pauquet brothers published a series of hand colored engravings in the mid 19 century after the publication of their book 'Modes et Costumes Historiques' (Fashions and Historical Costumes).
These engravings by the Pauquet brothers are among the finest costume plates of the nineteenth century and were all engraved by the Pauquet brothers themselves.
Engraving: Woman in royal garb of 16th century, from 1864. Signature under lower right side, "Hip Pauquet". Titled in lower middle, "Jeanne d'Autriche/Mere de la Reine Marie de Medicis". Under frame, "d'apres Rubens/1565/Pauquet freres". Please see appraisal for more detail.
Measurement: Including frame is 14" x 12-1/2", print alone measures 9-1/2" x 7-1/2"
Condition: Engraving are in good antique condition with some minor discoloration. Frame is also in good condition with minor marking. Please see appraisal for additional detail.
