Vintage Handcrafted Yanomami Canoe Paddle, South America Indigenous People, Amazon Rain Forest, Yanomama

Sorry, this item has sold.

Authentic, handcrafted wooden canoe paddle from South America. Hand carved out of wood from the Amazon Rain Forest, by the Yanomami (Yanomamo) tribe. The Yanomami are a culturally intact, indigenous tribe that lives in South America on the border between Brazil and Venuzuela.

The blade of the paddle is shaped like a leaf with a pointed edge that is used to help steer the canoe more accurately in the water as well as to help pull the boat to the shore and secure it. The paddles could also be used as weapons or to spear fish.

Approximate Measurement: 46" long x 8" across paddle blade.

Paddle is in good condition with no structural damage. Some minor wear and imperfections noted as expected with any vintage, handmade item.

This one of a kind piece was obtained from a local estate by a woman who traveled to South America, and would make a wonderful addition to your collection!
