Antique, round, bentwood box with metal rimmed lid. Bottom of box is engraved / stamped, "Patent Packages Co., Patd Aug 31, 1858, Newark, NJ". Bentwood box has metal band around bottom as well as around lid.
Shaker style box is from the late 1800's to early 1900's,
The inside of the lid is marked, "Pleasantville '65", which I believe indicates when and where the previous owner purchased the box.
Box measures approximately 5-1/4" in diameter x 6-1/4" tall
Box is in good condition with minor imperfections and wear consistent with age and previous use. Seam has some mild separating in the center. Please see pictures for more detail.
