Gorgeous, antique, green, metal, wire birdcage from the E-Weld Co. Often referred to as a Hendryx bird cage after Andrew B. Hendryx, whose company made this style of bird cage in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
Made in the U.S.A. in the 1920's or 1930's when it became popular to keep canaries as pets. Cage door opens and is held closed by a spring. The bottom section is wrapped with a mesh screen. Metal tray slides out of base for easy cleaning. Tray is marked, "Made by the E-Weld Co, U.S.A.". Sit on a table or shelf or hang cage from chain, which is included.
Measures 11-1/4" across, and 14 tall to the top of the hook. The chain length is 18".
Cage is in good, vintage, previously owned condition. There are a few scuffs, scratches, and minor dings consistent with age. Very slight surface rust noted in a few areas. No breaks, cracks or major dents noted. Cage has original paint intact!
This unique, primitive piece is perfect for any eclectic collector!
