This is a lovely, porcelain, rectangular, trinket box, from Germany, marked, "Gefiederte Welt, Rosenthal ,Handmalerei Munchen Germany, and signed A. Ekl. The number 2065 embedded in the ceramic on bottom with a tiny "gg" in the upper, right corner.
The lid is hand painted with a picture of a bird, that looks like a European Robin, sitting on a branch. There is gold trim around the lid and around the base of the box. What looks like the number "59" is painted on the underside of the lid.
Approximate measurements: 4-5/8" long x 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall without lid, base measures 4-1/8" long x 2-3/4" wide. Lid measures 4-7/8" long x 3-3/8" wide, inside rim measures 4-1/4" long x 2-3/4".
Box is 1-1/4" tall with lid.
Condition: Very good, vintage, previously used condition, no chips, cracks or crazing noted.
Beautiful, hand painted box perfect for bird collectors or collectors of Rosenthal Porcelain.
