This is a very nice, early 1900's adjustable piano stool, manufactured by A. Merriam Co. of Mass. USA. Features include iron claw and glass ball feet, along with a concave seat designed for added comfort. Seat height is adjustable from approximately 18-1/2" to 22". Stool turn screw plate is marked "A. MERRIAM CO. MASS. USA".
This is a wonderful example of the quality and craftsmanship of furniture from this time period.
Stool is in nice, original condition, ready for daily use. Seat "adjusting screw" works with ease, simply turn seat left or right, to raise or lower as desired. Wood has fantastic patina, with age appropriate cosmetic wear and imperfections. There are no structural cracks, breaks, or other damage. Glass balls and iron claws are in good shape with normal ware. Some small paint droppings are present in a few areas, which could probably we removed with hot water and soap.
Measures approximately 14-1/2" across at the seat, and height is adjustable from 18-1/2" to 22".
