Woven, rattan, wicker basket purse or sewing basket, painted white, with single, top handle from the 1950's.
Wooden, hinged lid opens on both sides and has hand painted flowers as well as the saying, "My Love's Like a Red Rose", half painted on each side of the lid. Inside is lined with fabric with a geometric pattern.
Measures approximately 10-1/4" wide x 6-1/2" deep x 5" tall not including handle, 8-3/4" tall including handle.
Basket is in good condition structurally overall with some scratches and scuffs and noted to the paint, especially on the basket and the handle as well as some fading on the lid. There are a few chips to the wood and paint where the handles are but hinges are intact and in good working order. Fabric lining has some wear and fading from age but no major rips or tears.
This looks like a Handcraft of Miami basket purse or sewing basket, but is not marked. Basket has great patina and perfect to use as a handbag or just for display on a bookshelf, or accent table.
