This original, 1977 souvenir felt pennant, depicts the Chincoteague wild ponies swimming in the water of Chincoteague Island, Virginia, with a lighthouse in the background. Chincoteague Island, located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, is known for the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on nearby Assateague Island. The annual Pony Swim, where the ponies swim across the channel from Assateague to Chincoteague, is a popular event that has been held since 1925.
CONDITION: Pennant is free of rips, tears, and fraying. Some stains and age appropriate cosmetic wear is present, as displayed in the photos.
Pennant measures 27-1/2" long x 8" tall.
