This is a rare, circa 1950's(?) mechanical "Take A Number" sign, made by Global Ticket Co. of Philadelphia, Pa. Global Ticket Co headquarters building was complete and operational in 1900, and was demolished in 1988 to make way for the Philadelphia Convention Center. I am not certain of the year when their operations ceased. This may have been used at a local market stand, or a deli counter in a corner grocery store.
This is a very unusual, working sign, with a a pull chain on the right side to advance the numbers, and a knob on the front to return the numbers to zero. This unique sign would look fantastic on display, and would compliment any sign collection. Includes the original metal tabs on the back to secure it to the wall.
Sign is in good solid condition, and works great! There is age appropriate cosmetic wear as shown in the photos.
Measures 18-3/4" wide x 10" tall x 7/8" thick.
