180's Black Cast Iron Window Vent Grate, 1890's Architectural Salvage

$65.00

This is an 1890's, black forged iron basement foundation window vent grate, with a diamond pattern design. These old grates were used in the early days, for openings in the basement foundation, to allow air into the dirt floor cellars. This is an original, historical piece of architectural salvage, rescued from a barn in eastern Pennsylvania.

The grate measures approx. 27" wide from tip to tip, and 24" from the vertical sides. Height is 11-3/4". The thickness is 5/8". Weight is approx. 21 1/2 LBS.

Grate is in good solid condition, with normal surface rust, dirt, and patina. There are no breaks, cracks, or other structural damage.
